The boom has gone. 3 years before, it was the god everywhere in malnad region. But now a culprit facing the complaint of "spoiling Areca Plants" and "No Market Price". many of the farmers in malnad region are scrapping the vanilla plant in recent times .

Paan is a ubiquitous food, mouth refresher, and digestive found all over South and Southeast Asia. A betel leaf (and sometimes other plant leaf varieties) is filled with mineral lime paste, areca nut, fennel and other food/spices such as coconut, anise, cinnamon, clove, saffron and occasionally spiced with tobacco and chewed. The betel leaf and areca nut combination are a strong stimulant that is smoothed with the addition of lime paste. The stylized paan-making ritual reached its apex and was popularized by Queen Noor Jahan. Yet the stimulating factors alone, more probably, contributed to its popularity then and today.
